Good news to all Trademark attorneys/agents. The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Abuja, Nigeria on the 18th of May, 2015 published 2 Trademarks, Patents and Designs Journals. They are:
1. Vol 1 No 1; and
2. Vol 2 No 1.
The applications contained in the Journals are those submitted via the Industrial Property Automation System (IPAS).
The Journals contain a table of content each, listing all the published marks in each class making it easier to skim through. The Lady would have preferred for the marks to be arranged in alphabetical order though.
Remember there is a 2-month opposition period, which will elapse on the 18th of July, 2015 for both Journals so grab your copy and get to work.
Someday soon, the Lady will comment on the tortuous process of registering a trademark in Nigeria. Perhaps, there should be a journal entry for one of the marks the Lady has been assigned to register chronicling the process. Sounds like a good idea. Watch out for that post.
*As an aside, the Lady notes that the Journals only contain Trademark applications. No mention of Patents or Design applications. In fact, the first page provides for an overview of Trademarks registration in Nigeria. A post for another day as well?
